Egypt's state-owned mail service Egypt Post announced on Tuesday that it had suspended mail services to and from Qatar following the decision of the Egyptian government to cut the diplomatic services with the Gulf state on Monday.

In a statement published on its official website, Egypt Post announced that all mail services with Qatar would stop as of Tuesday.

Cairo also announced that it had cancelled all flights to and from Qatar as of 6 am Cairo time (4am GMT) on Tuesday, with Egyptian airspace closed to Qatari aircraft.

There are around 300,000 Egyptians residing in Qatar, according to official estimates.

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Yemen and the eastern-based government of Libya have cut diplomatic ties with Qatar on Monday, claiming that Doha supports terrorist organisations such as Daesh and Al-Qaeda, as well as interfering in the internal affairs of nations in the region.
