US President Donald Trump stressed to Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi in a phone call on Wednesday the need for “constructive negotiation” between Qatar and its Arab neighbors, the White House said.

Trump also called on all "the countries to follow through on their commitments at the Riyadh summit to stop terrorist financing and discredit extremist ideology."

Cairo hosted on Wednesday a meeting of the foreign ministers of Egypt, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and United Arabia Emirates to discuss the diplomatic situation with Qatar.

The Arab FMs said in a statement that Qatar’s response to their 13-point list of demands displays “complacency and a lack of seriousness.”

The White House statement added that the two presidents discussed recent developments regarding the “threat” posed by North Korea. 

Trump stressed the need for countries to fully implement UN security resolutions on North Korea and to stop hosting North Korean guest workers, as well as isolate the country economically and militarily.

Egypt is currently a member of the UN Security Council.

On Tuesday, North Korea held a military test for its new intercontinental ballistic missile that landed in the sea near Japan.
