Egypt's Defence Minister meets with EU Military Committee chair in Cairo

Egypt's Minister of Defence, Sedky Sobhi, met in Cairo on Thursday with General Mikhail Kostarakos, Chairman of the European Union Military Committee ("EUMC"), where they discussed the latest security and military developments in the Middle East, the Egyptian Armed Forces announced.

According to a statement released by the Egyptian army, Sobhi and Kostarakos also discussed military relations and cooperation between Egypt and several EU members.

From his side, General Kostarakos praised Egypt's recent efforts in fighting terrorism and the nation's leadership in solving regional problems.

Egypt's Chief of Staff, General Mahmoud Hegazy, also attended the meeting.

General Kostarakos and a delegation from the EUMC are currently in Cairo from a two-day visit that commenced on Thursday.
