Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Cairo Ahmed Kattan has been appointed as minister of state for African countries in the Saudi ministry of foreign affairs during the kingdom's ministerial reshuffle Monday night.
Kattan, born in 1953, graduated from Cairo University's Faculty of Economics and Political Science in 1978, and joined Saudi Arabia's diplomatic service the same year.
In 2011, then-Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdel-Aziz appointed Kattan as the ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Cairo.
Kattan also served as a permanent representative of the kingdom at the League of the Arab states.
The Saudi foreign ministry has not yet announced who will be replacing Kattan as the Saudi ambassador in Cairo.
