Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with South Sudan's President Salva Kirr in Juba, South Sudan, on Monday, delivering a message from Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi aimed at boosting bilateral cooperation, the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a press statement.
South Sudan is the first stop in Shoukry's tour of Africa that started on Monday. While in Juba, he will visit the South Sudanese presidential palace, signing a memo to establish a mechanism for political consultation, the ministry said.
He will also meet Nhial Deng Nhial, South Sudan's senior advisor and presidential envoy, as well as members of the South Sudan National Dialogue, which Egypt has been supporting.
Shoukry will also oversee the handover of a cargo of logistical aid from the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD).
His visit will also involve a meeting with South Sudan's Minister of Health Riek Gek and a visit to the Egyptian clinic in Juba. Later, he will inaugurate a kidney dialysis centre that Egypt gifted to the Juba Educational Hospital.
The Egyptian foreign minister will the continue his tour, heading next to the Kenyan capital Nairobi.
