The Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), the Muslim Brotherhood’s political wing, has firmly condemned the use of brutal force against peaceful demonstrators at the Cabinet’s headquarters in Cairo.
On its official Facebook page, the FJP urged the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) and involved authorities to bear their national and historic responsibility in mind, and to ensure the immediate cessation of such attacks.
The Islamist party which is leading in the first two rounds of the parliamentary elections warned that the unstable domestic situation could threaten Egypt’s path of democratic transition, as it takes public attention away from the electoral scene.
The FJP called for an immediate investigation into the violent clashes and that the findings be made public.
