Heat wave continues in Cairo, sandstorm expected in southern Upper Egypt: Meteorological authority

Most of Egypt continues to experience a heat wave for the second day in a row on Wednesday, the Egyptian Meteorological authority (EMA) announced.

In its statement about the weather on Wednesday, the EMA stated that southwesterly winds would be active in southern Upper Egypt, reaching to the level of sandstorm.

Previously on Monday, EMA forecast that a sandstorm would hit the country on Tuesday. On Tuesday, the sandstorm mostly affected southern Upper Egypt and Western Desert cities and governorates, including the Wadi El-Gadid and Aswan governorates.

On Wednesday, temperatures registered 36 degrees Celsius in Cairo, 36 in northern Upper Egypt and 42 degrees in southern Upper Egypt.

Marsa Matrouh and Alexandria on the Mediterranean enjoyed a milder temperature between 29 and 31 C.
