Egypt's top prosecutor Nabil Sadek referred on Wednesday 40 defendants to a criminal court for human trafficking and facilitating illegal migration, according to statement by prosecution.

The Public Fund Prosecution opened an investigations in the case after the Administrative Control Authority issued a report on the involvement of a Foreign Ministry employee and other defendants in human trafficking, embezzlement, forging government seals and official documents, and inciting prostitution.

According to investigations, the organised criminal group made profits by sexually exploit girls in need of money.

The investigation also revealed that the group smuggled a girl to an Arab country using a forged marriage contract, and forged marriage documents for 13 other girls.

The Public Funds Prosecution ordered the arrest of all the suspects, a search of their premises and the seizure of any documents or tools used to commit the crimes.
