Egypt's EMA forecasts hot weather during Eid Al-Fitr, temperatures to start rising Thursday

The head of Egypt's Meteorological Authority (EMA) Ahmed Abdel-Aal said on Tuesday that the country is set to witness a gradual rise in temperatures starting Thursday, following a noticeable decrease on Tuesday and expected mild weather on Wednesday.

Thursday marks the last day of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, making Friday the first day of the three-day Eid Al-Fitr.

A heatwave will continue on Saturday, the second day of Eid Al-Fitr, but it is expected to ease on Sunday, the last day of Eid.

Highs expected over the Eid Al-Fitr weekend range between 31-32 degrees Celcius on the northern coasts, 34-37 C in Cairo and 40-43 C in Upper Egypt.

On Wednesday, Egypt will experience mild weather on the northern coasts and warm weather in the Nile Delta, Cairo and Northern Upper Egypt. Southern Upper Egypt will be extremely hot during the day.

Cairo: 35-23 C
Nile Delta: 35-23 C
North Sinai: 31-19 C
South Sinai: 37-28 C
Upper Egypt: 39-26 C
