Four women appointed as deputy ministers in Egypt's new cabinet

Four Egyptian women have been appointed as deputy ministers - out of a total of 15 new deputy ministers - in the new cabinet headed by newly appointed Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

Randa El-Menshawy has been appointed as deputy minister of housing and utilities, Mona Mehrez as deputy minister of agriculture, Ghada Labib as deputy minister of planning, and Niveen Riyad as deputy minister of social solidarity.

The new cabinet has eight women ministers; the highest number of women in ministerial positions in Egypt's modern history.
