Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry is expected to start on Tuesday a trip to Germany and Austria for political and economic talks with his counterparts, according to a statement by Egypt's foreign ministry.

The two-day visit to Germany will address Egyptian-German relations in various sectors, especially investment cooperation and increasing trade exchange.

During his visit to Berlin, the foreign minister is set to meet with his German counterpart Heiko Mass, Transport and Digital Infrastructure Minister Andreas Schweier and Minister of Economic and Development Cooperation Gerd Mueller.

The minister is also expected to visit the Bundestag, where he will meet with a number of parliamentary officials.

In Austria, Shoukry is expected to discuss enhancing bilateral relations in the political, economic and cultural fields.

Austria is set to assume the rotating presidency of the European Union starting July 2018.

Egypt's desire to coordinate with European forums reflects the importance of European partners in Egypt's foreign policy, according to the statement.
