The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced its participation in the Global Coalition against Daesh’s meeting, to be held this month in Washington to discuss ideological and media strategies to counter the militant groups, Al-Ahram Arabic website reported.

The meeting is held regularly as part of ongoing international efforts and joint coordination in the fight against terrorism and the follow-up of the coalition's strategy to combat the terrorist organization.

Egypt participated in the last coalition meetings against Daesh in London in March.

Egypt's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Abu-Zeid said the current meetings are being held in light of an increasing international consensus on military victories against terrorism in Syria and Iraq, affirming that a decisive victory over terrorism will not be achieved without eliminating the rhetoric of extremism that was falsely disseminated by Daesh and other terrorist organizations in the name of the Islamic religion.

The Global Coalition against Daesh was formed in September 2014, and is committed to degrading and ultimately defeating the terrorist organization.
