Egypt has said it is postponing a meeting between its foreign minister and his Sudanese counterpart from Tuesday to Wednesday, a statement by the Egyptian foreign ministry read.

Earlier on Tuesday, Sudanese Foreign Minister Al-Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed arrived in Cairo to meet with Egypt’s Sameh Shoukry, who is on a trip to Ethiopia with Egypt's intelligence chief Abbas Kamel for meetings with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

A joint ministerial meeting between Egypt and Sudan, which was supposed to be held in Cairo in preparation for an Egyptian-Sudanese Higher Committee meeting, was also postponed.

The committee meeting is set to take place in October, according to statements by Egypt's Ambassador to Sudan Osama Shaltout in August.

Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and his Sudanese counterpart Omar Al-Bashir will co-chair the meetings.

The reasons behind the delay were not given.
