Egypt keen on cooperating with UN to achieve 2030 Sustainable Development

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Saturday UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Liu Zhenmin who is currently visiting Cairo.

During the meeting, Shoukry lauded the relations between Egypt and the UN bodies at various levels, which aim at providing peace and security for all peoples, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Ahmed Hafez.

Shoukry also highlighted the regional economic, social and environmental challenges, which require joining efforts to provide a better life for the region's peoples, Hafez added.

The FM also stressed Egypt's commitment to fostering cooperation with all UN bodies and enhancing capacity-building programs in order to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs).

For his part, Zhenmin commended the Egyptian economic and systemic reforms in addition to the positive results achieved at the development and financial levels, adding that Egypt is on the right track to achieve the pursued development.
