25 January will be considered a national day in Egypt like 23 July and 6 October, says member of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) Hamdi Badeen in a press conference on Wednesday.

Major Genral Badeen, who is also head of the Army’s Department of Moral Affairs, explained in a conference that was only attended by military accredited reporters that the armed forces considers 25 January an exceptional day to be celebrated by the military.

Badeen claimed that a third of the army’s conscripts are from the revolutionary youth.

He also stressed that the celebration should show the world that Egypt is a stable and calm country and that Egyptians will not be dragged into any action that would harm their homeland. The first celebration of the revolution should be as peaceful as the Egypt’s revolution was,  Badeen insisted.

According to Badeen, stability should be the main goal at the moment in order to regenerate the economy and tourism, so that the revolution is not blamed for the problems the country is currently facing.
