Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ordered on Tuesday finalising digital and information infrastructure at the New Administrative Capital on time, a statement by the Egyptian presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady read.

During a meeting with Communications and Information Technology Minister Amr Talaat, El-Sisi stressed that digital infrastructure will be Egypt's gate to the era of smart cities that rely on digital applications and the use of the latest information and communication technology (ICT) in running facilities and services.

Also, the meeting tackled a proposed plan to digitalise the government services, Rady said.

El-Sisi called for stepping up efforts to automate the government work, through developing management systems of government institutions, especially with regard to human and financial resources and logistics, the spokesman added.
