Former presidential candidate Mohamed ElBaradei proposed a new roadmap for democratic transition in Egypt on his official Twitter account on Thursday.
The former head of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) suggested that the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) hand over power to an interim president elected by the parliament, after which a provisional assembly would be formed to draft the constitution to determine Egypt's political system.
ElBaradei also tweeted that after drafting a constitution, new presidential elections should be held, followed by parliamentary elections. He added that after one year of confusion there should be consensus for the democratic transition in Egypt.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner had previously slammed the Shura council elections, wondering about the elections when the Shura council has no power and would likely be cancelled later.
