Five terrorists killed in attack on North Sinai checkpoint

A shootout took place in the early hours of Wednesday between Egyptian security forces and a number of terrorists who attacked a security checkpoint south of El-Arish city in North Sinai.

According to a statement by the interior ministry, the exchange of fire resulted in the killing of five terrorists as well as a police officer, a low-ranking policeman and six soldiers.

Security forces are searching for the remaining terrorists involved in the attack.
