Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a letter addressed to President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi from his Nicaraguan counterpart Daniel Ortega.

Shoukry received the letter during a Monday meeting with his Nicaraguan counterpart Denis Ronaldo Moncada Colindres in Cairo.

The two officials probed means of cementing bilateral ties at various levels, foreign ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

They also reviewed several regional as well as international issues of mutual interest, the spokesman added.

Egypt attaches a special importance to promoting its relations with Nicaragua, whether at the bilateral level or within international forums by coordinating on matters of mutual concern, Shoukry stressed during the meeting.

Briefing Colindres on the country's economic reforms and other sustainable development efforts in various domains, Shoukry noted that he is looking forward to further cooperation between both countries.

Colindres stressed his country's willingness to boost joint cooperation at various levels to meet the aspirations of the peoples of both countries, Hafez noted.

He also emphasised his country's condemnation of all forms of terrorism, asserting Nicaragua's support of international counter-terrorism efforts.
