Pope Francis holds first meeting of committee for implementing objectives of Human Fraternity Document

The first meeting of the Higher Committee for implementing the objectives of the Human Fraternity Document took place at the Vatican headquarters in the presence of Pope Francis on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the members of the committee elected Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot as the committee's chairman for a one-year term, and he will be succeeded by Mohamed El-Mersawi, president of Al-Azhar University.

The committee also elected Judge Mohamed Abdel-Salam, former advisor to Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayyeb, as secretary of the committee to achieve the objectives of the Human Fraternity Document.

Pope Francis reiterated his full support for the members of the committee in doing their work.

The committee members discussed the future plans and projects of the committee to be adopted by Al-Azhar's Grand Imam, Pope Francis and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

The committee is scheduled to hold a regular meeting to discuss the implementation of its decisions.
