Egypt’s Minister of Tourism Rania Al-Mashat participated on Monday in the opening of the annual Concordia Summit 2019 upon an invitation from the president of the Women Political Leaders global forum, given the importance of the Egyptian tourism sector for Egypt's economy.
The annual Concordia Summit 2019 will be held from 22 to 24 September within the framework of the 74th United Nations General Assembly in New York, with the participation of a number of world leaders and decision makers from both the public and private sectors.
The Minister of Tourism also participated in the experimental opening of a branch of a famous Egyptian restaurant chain known for serving authentic Egyptian food in the state of New York to promote Egyptian tourism through Egyptian cuisine.
The minister added that the opening of such restaurants is part of the 'People to People' campaign, which highlights successful Egyptians in different fields, including the culinary arts.
The 'People To People' campaign is part of the Egypt—Tourism Reform Programme launched in November 2018 to market Egypt as a prime tourist destination as well as shed light on the diversity of the Egyptian people.
Minister Al-Mashat is on a visit to New York to attend the World Economic Forum Summit on the impact of sustainable development, which will be held on 23-24 September within the framework of the United Nations General Assembly.
