Egypt offers opportunities for land ownership and reclamation in Sinai

The local councils of North and South Sinai have started to issue applications for Egyptians, residing in or outside of Sinai, who wish to own and reclaim agricultural lands in any of the peninsula's 18 new urban communities.

On Sunday, the local council of Ras Sedr announced issuing applications for citizens to own 10 feddans for land reclamation, in addition to a 165-square-metre house to live in, in five agricultural urban communities affiliated to the city of Ras Sedr in South Sinai governorate.

Two weeks ago, the local council of El-Hassana city in North Sinai opened the door for application in the new project aiming to develop Sinai.

According to the EGP 50 booklet containing the terms and conditions, the Egyptian applicant should not be younger than 21 years old or older than 50 years old and should not have acquired an agricultural land to reclaim from the state, a public authority, or a public sector company.

The total value of the land and residence is EGP 629,000.

According to the government, the project aims to boost the economic and agricultural production, provide job opportunities, and face the overpopulation in the Nile Valley by making use of vast uninhabited areas in Sinai.

The new project to build new communities and reclaim lands in Sinai is based on the Sinai development law issued in 2012. The law was amended twice in 2016 and 2017.
