The Grand Imam of Egypt's Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb and Al-Azhar delegation arrived in Rome on Thursday to meet with the head of the Catholic Church Pope Francis II and to participate in the "Interfaith Summit on Promoting Child Dignity in the Digital World," held on 14-15 November, at the Vatican's Pontifical Academy of Sciences.
El-Tayeb will deliver a keynote speech on the second day of the conference, expected to address a historical overview of children's rights and Al-Azhar's efforts to support initiatives that preserve and promote child dignity.
The conference is attended by prominent religious leaders from around the world, as well as economists, representatives of organisations working in the field of combating crimes of violence against children.
This is the second edition of the conference. The first edition was held in 2017 in the Italian capital, which ended with the “Rome Declaration”.
The conference is held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
