Egypt’s intelligence chief Major General Abbas Kamel conveyed on Monday President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s greetings to Chairman of the Sovereign Council of Sudan Abdel-Fattah El-Burhan, asserting to him Egypt’s solidarity with the brotherly Sudanese people and support to Sudan’s counter-terrorism efforts.

Major General Kamel, who arrived in Khartoum earlier in the day leading a high-profile security delegation, expressed to Burhan Egypt’s full support to the transitional authorities in Sudan and keenness on helping the Sudanese people to fulfill their aspirations.

Talks between the two sides took up a number of regional and international files of mutual concern.

The intelligence chief’s visit is the first by a foreign official to Sudan to express solidarity with it following a failed attempt on the life of Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok early this morning.
