Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has instructed the country's concerned bodies to prepare “precise statistics” on the numbers of those who hold “precarious employment” and are affected by the ramifications of the novel coronavirus outbreak.

During a meeting with a number of ministers on Sunday, Madbouly said a mechanism should be used to count the affected people, and he praised the manpower ministry’s initiative to register the irregular workers via an online form.

The meeting discussed establishing a fund for managing the crisis, whether from the state's budget or from other sources.

Earlier, Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi announced a package of economic aid to support different sectors and social groups, especially the vulnerable who could be affected by the preventive measures implemented by the country to stop the spread of the virus.

Egypt has so far registered 327 coronavirus cases, including 14 fatalities.
