Head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi confirmed on Saturday that power will be handed over to a civilian, elected body and that the constitution will be drafted to satisfy the nation as a whole.

Tantawi's statements come after hundreds of thousands demonstrated in Tahrir Square on Friday against military rule.

Activists have also been accusing the SCAF of attempting to interfere in drafting the new constitution.
