President Mohamed Morsi's spokesman Yasser Ali has denied reports that the new cabinet will be named on Thursday.

Ali told the German news agency DPA on Monday that the date when the new prime minister would be named had not yet been scheduled, adding that it would be announced "as soon as possible, but not on Thursday."

A number of news websites have published a statement quoting a source in the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) stating that the prime minister would be named on Thursday, and that he would be a figure from outside the FJP and the Muslim Brotherhood.

However, FJP and Muslim Brotherhood figure Essam El-Erian denied Monday that the party had issued any statements regarding the naming of the cabinet.
