Newly-appointed Prime Minister Hesham Qandil stated in a press conference Thursday that the final shortlist of candidates for Egypt's new cabinet will be presented to President Mohamed Morsi on Friday. Morsi is expected to chose his ministers on the same day.

Qandil had previously promised, in his first press conference Tuesday, that Egypt would have a "technocratic government" and the selection of ministers would be based on the nominees’ efficiency and competency.

Yasser Ali, spokesman for the presidential office, earlier stated that members of Egypt's new cabinet would be unveiled by the middle of next week.
