Essam Sultan, former MP for the moderate-Islamist Wasat Party, has warned against what he describes as blind opposition to the Muslim Brotherhood purely for ideological reasons, rather than based on their actual economic and social policies.

Opposition to the 'Islamic identity' in general has been growing in some quarters, even towards a moderate form of Islam, Sultan said on his Facebook page.

Moreover, he criticised the "dangerous transformation" of opposition groups, which he said have become very hostile to anyone belonging to the Islamist trend, even moderates.

Furthermore, Sultan said some opposition figures had turned blindly against anyone in power, simply based on their personal identity [as an Islamist].

Essam Sultan is a founding member of the Wasat Party and recently launched a lawsuit against former prime minister Ahmed Shafiq for squandering public funds.

So, Mr. Essam Sultan, You are in favor of jailing Adel Imam and keeping the arrested revolutionaries in prison and will support the Salafi 'reforms' aimed at destroying tourism and isolating Egypt from the civilized world !!!

I think the accusations are generally true. Leftists and Nasserites would side with the devil against the Islamist camp. This is clear from reading this leftist-Nasserite site.

Rami, Mind you...Just don’t forget the ground reality, majority of Egyptions are Islamist...Yes, you are right, you people hate anything that attached or attributed to “Islam” that’s you never come through ballot box, so except accusation you don’t have anything in your pouch…….You have the right to criticize the policies of Islamists or their wrong doings but you don’t have the right to level false allegations if a person is Islamist or Islamic leaning s. You ruled this country for more than decades by force and against the will of the Egyptions but can’t swallow the will of majority of the Egyptions revealed in elections.
