Ousted former president Hosni Mubarak was transported late Wednesday to a the Maadi Military Hospital in Cairo after suffering a fall that resulted in a minor fracture of his hip and bruises to his skull, Tora Prison Director Mohamed Ibrahim reported.
Mubarak, who is currently serving a life sentence for his responsibility in the killing of protesters during the January 25 Revolution, suffered the fall in Tora Prison.
A number of tests were carried out on Mubarak at the Maadi hospital where he reportedly spent almost an hour before being transported to the Tora Prison Hospital.
Mubarak was sent to Tora Prison in June after being convicted of failing to stop the killing of peaceful protesters. For months during his trial he was held at the International Medical Centre, a military hospital on the Cairo-Ismailia road.
It is understood that Mubarak is suffering from cancer and heart problems. It was frequently reported during his stay at the International Medical Centre that his heart had stopped and he had to be revived by doctors.
