Firefighters extinguish fire in forest and animal food warehouse at Giza Zoo, cause of blaze unknown

Six fire engines were called to tackle a fire at Giza Zoo on Sunday afternoon.

The fire started in a forested area and spread to the animal food warehouse, reports say.

The cause of the fire and the amount of damage caused is still unknown.

Giza Zoo was conceived by Khedive Ismail and launched in 1891 and is the oldest and largest in Africa.
