The Cairo Court of Appeal agreed on Wednesday to reveal any secret accounts of the Library of Alexandria, particularly the existing accounts of Suzanne Thabet, the wife of former president, Hosni Mubarak, and of and of an NGO she presided, the Suzane Mubarak Movement for Peace, which was tightly linked to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
The court granted permission to the commission charged with investigating illegal profits to access any data related to the library’s accounts or deposits in all the banks in Egypt, although the National Bank of Egypt, Heliopolis was mentioned specifically.
The court also charged them to disclose Suzanne Mubarak’s transactions with international banks, as well as the accounts of their son’s charity association, Mohamed Alaa Mubarak.
The decision was taken by Chancellor Aeed Sweilem, head of the Court of Appeals, along with Counselors Mohammed Abdul-Latif and Al-Badawi Saad and Secretariat Abdel Salam Abdel-Rahman.
