Ultra conservative Al-Gamaa Al-Islamiya rejects the constitutional declaration issued by Egyptian interim President Adly Mansour.

The group said they will not accept a constitutional declaration issued by an appointed, rather than an elected, president, reads a statement published on the group's website on Tuesday.

"The only constitution recognised is the one the Egyptians agreed upon," they added in their statement.

On the suspension of the constitution, which was drafted and passed during ousted president Morsi's one year reign, Gamaa Islamiya declared that "the constitution cannot be suspended because a few people want it so."

The constitutional declaration, composed of 33 articles, gives Mansour legislative authorities after consulting with his cabinet; states a timeline for the parliamentary elections, which comes before the presidential elections; and mandates that a committee be formed within 15 days from the issuance of the constitutional declaration to amend the frozen constitution.

Al-Gamaa Al-Islamiya and its political arm, the Building and Development Party, have called Sunday upon interim President Mansour to step down to spare Egypt a "bitter conflict."

Mansour was appointed Thursday after the army, with the support of popular nationwide protests, ousted Brotherhood-fielded Morsi.
