Clashes at two Egyptian universities on Wednesday as pro-Morsi students continue to hold protests on campus

Violent clashes erupted Wednesday during protests supporting ousted president Mohamed Morsi at two universities in northern Egypt.

Clashes erupted at Zagazig University in Sharqiya when hundreds of Morsi supporters chanted against the military - which removed the Islamist president from power following mass protests in July – prompting pro-military students to chant back against Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood group.

According to state news agency MENA, five students were injured during the clashes.

At Alexandria University, students at the faculty of arts clashed with a pro-Morsi protest, according to Al-Ahram's Arabic website. A number of students were injured.

Pro-Morsi protests have taken place in universities across the country since the beginning of the school year on Saturday, as supporters of the deposed president continue to protest against what they perceive as a military coup.
