Free entry to Giza zoo and Cairo military museums on Armed Forces Day

Several venues in Egypt will be open to visitors for free on Sunday, 6 October in celebration of Egypt's victory in the 1973 war against Israel

The Giza Zoo, a popular attraction for Egyptians on holidays, will be granting visitors free entry on Sunday to commemorate Armed Forces Day.

Al-Orman Garden, across the street from the zoo, and a number of military museums will also ofter free admission on Sunday. Other venues offering free admission include Antoniadis Garden in Alexandria, the Argicultural Museum, and the Aquiarium Garden.

Sunday is the 40th anniversary of Egypt's victory in the 1973 war against Israel, which will be marked by nationwide celebrations, including military, artistic, cultural events.

Meanwhile, rival political camps have called for rallies on Sunday. Both groups have claimed Tahrir Square as a destination, raising fears of potential violence.

On Saturday, the Egyptian Ministry of Interior issued a statement warning Muslim Brotherhood supporters against any attempt to spoil celebrations. Four died on Friday in clashes between supporters and opponents of deposed president Mohamed Morsi.
