Amr Moussa to hold press conference on Egypt constitution Sunday

Amr Moussa, head of the outgoing 50-Member Committee tasked with amending Egypt's 2012 Constitution, is to hold an international press conference Sunday at 11am (Cairo Local Time) to answer questions pertaining to the new national charter recently finalised.

According to the state-run MENA news agency, prominent Egyptian career diplomat Moussa will be joined in the press conference by members of the committee that consisted of representives of different parts of society and the political spectrum.

On Saturday, Egypt's interim president, Adly Mansour, announced a national referendum on the new draft constitution would take place 14-15 January 2014.

The drafting committee submitted its amended draft to Mansour 3 December. According to the transitional roadmap announced by Egypt's interim authorities after the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in July, the amended constitution must be approved by a national referendum.
