Clashes erupted between dozens of protesters, participating in a sit-in in Tahrir Square, and those who are opposed to the sit-in and want to open the streets leading to the square.

The sit-in started last Saturday when the army used force to end a sit-in in Tahrir Square, amid the participation of alleged Army officers in the "Friday of Cleansing" march. On Saturday morning, protesters started a new sit-in in the square using wire fences to block traffic, an action criticised by many.

The protesters managed to block the streets once again and insisted on continuing their protests until their demands are met. These demands include a transparent investigation of the Friday clashes and the formation of  a civil presidential council to be in charge of the transitional period.
