Text of Statement

Chairman of the State Information Service Mr. Diaa Rashwan has made direct contacts since yesterday afternoon with regional officials in the British “Reuters” News Agency following the flawed reports it published on 28-29 March regarding the progress of the electoral process in Egypt.

Subsequently, Mr. Rashwan received a reply from Reuters management officials that the Agency management in London and New York had decided to retract the reports referred to and publish the retract decision through all the media outlets affiliated to the Agency worldwide, which is considered an acknowledgment by the Agency of the invalidity of the content of the reports.
