Presidential candidate Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said there was no choice but to find a solution with Ethiopia concerning its ongoing Nile dam project.
"We should show understanding and consideration for the interests of others and their needs and also stress our own. For us, water is a life or death issue," El-Sisi said.
The former army chief said that the matter with Ethiopia had been neglected for a very long time and that talks began at a very late stage.
"We should admit that we haven't given enough effort to all our African brothers and Ethiopia, of course. Negotiations and mutual understanding are key to cooperation and solving all these issues," he concluded.
