Saudi king arrives in Cairo for short talks with president El-Sisi

Ahram Online, Friday 20 Jun 2014

Saudi King Abdullah arrived in Cairo for a brief meeting with president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi Friday night, reported Ahram Arabic news website.

El-Sisi and the Saudi royal are expected to discuss arrangements for a donors' summit the king called for to support Egypt's fledgling economy.

This is the first visit by the Saudi king to Egypt following the inauguration of El-Sisi as president earlier in June.

Saudi Arabia has strongly supported the Egyptian interim authorities following the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi last year.

Saudi Arabia, UAE and Kuwait have sent financial assistance to Egypt worth $12 billion following Morsi's fall.
