Farouk El-Baz joins Free Egyptians’ Party

Former NASA scientist enters the Egyptian political orbit with Sawiris' party

Tycoon Naguib Sawris has announced that Farouk El-Baz, the prominent Egyptian-American scientist, is joining his Free Egyptians’ Party.

Sawiris unveiled the party in April and has since said that it has headquarters in every Egyptian governorate. The party will run a presidential candidate in the coming elections.

El-Baz, 73, spent six years between 1967 and 1972 working in NASA's Apollo Program during which he trained astronauts and briefed the media, among other duties. He had previosly let it be known that his readiness to join any party that fits with his agenda.
