Sameh Ashour, deputy president of the Nasserist party, has won the position as the party’s new president after the two competitors, Mohamed Abdel-Maqsoud Attia and Shabaan Abdel-Hamid Hammam, withdrew during the general conference.
The party conference was attended by 321 delegates who also revised the party’s constitution and debated its role in the post-25 January revolution political landscape.
