Rockets fired at Benghazi forces kill two Egyptian workers

Two Egyptian workers were killed in Libya on Saturday when rockets hit the area of Abou-Atny in Benghazi where a special forces camp is located.

Egypt state news agency MENA reported that six rockets were fired at the Benghazi special forces camp, but landed instead on nearby private homes were the two Egyptians lived.

The men were named as Ahmed Ragab and Rabie Mohamed Salem.

Since the 2011 revolution that ousted autocrat Muammar Gaddafi, the Libyan authorities have struggled to combat brigades of former rebels and Islamist militias who have easy access to weaponry.

Libya is a major destination for Egyptians seeking work abroad. According to a 2010 report by the International Organisation for Migration, some 1.5 million Egyptians were working in Libya at the time of the uprising against Gaddafi.
