The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces has released a statement sending their greetings to Egypt’s Christians for Easter. The council goes on to assure Egyptians that they will not remain silent over the growing sectarian tension between the country's Muslims and Christians.

The statement, published on the council’s Facebook page, said that the “Supreme Council of the Armed Forces sends greetings to the Egyptian people and the Christian brothers for Easter. We hope that God blesses our beloved Egypt and we pray to God to protect this nation and we assure you that we will not be lenient with anyone who tries to plant sectarianism in our precious land.”
