A US Congress delegation arrived late Monday at Cairo's International Airport for a visit that is scheduled to last for a few days, state-run news agency MENA reported.
Egypt and the US have had a patchy relationship since the ouster of Egypt's president Mohamed Morsi in July of last year, as the US temporarily suspended military aid to Egypt amid a crackdown on Morsi's supporters.
Upon the election of former army chief Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi as president in June, the US Congress unfroze $1.5 billion in mostly military aid.
Last February, a US Congress delegation met with El-Sisi in Egypt when he was still defence minister and hadn't yet announced his presidential bid.
The last congress delegation, headed by Rep. Mike Rogers, discussed US military aid to Egypt as well as matters of mutual interests between the two countries.
