Two separate buildings collapse in Upper Egypt's Sohag governorate, killing two children and injuring another

Two children died and another was injured on Monday when two buildings collapsed in Upper Egypt’s Sohag, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

A boy died in Sohag’s Gerga, when the roof of his family home collapsed. While in Tama, a girl died and another was injured.

Investigations reveal that the house that collapsed in Gerga was old and ill-maintained, while the second house in Tama collapsed due to contruction work on a neighbouring building.

It is not uncommon for buildings to collapse in Egypt, often due to age, illegal extensions and failure to comply with building regulations.
