Trains resume in Nile Delta after explosion on track

Services were delayed for several hours after an improvised explosive device detonated on a railway track in Sharqiya governorate

Train services have resumed in Sharqiya after a bomb exploded on the track on Wednesday morning, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

An improvised explosive device had been placed on the track between Zagazig and Mansoura.

Metwally El-Sayed, an official at the Zagazig railway authority, said services had been halted for a couple of hours but were now restored with slight delays.

Egypt has been hit by a wave of bomb attacks by anti-government militants since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
