One policeman killed, another injured in Egypt's Sharqiya attack

Ahram Online, Thursday 20 Nov 2014

Attacks on security forces and their installations have been on the rise since Mohamed Morsi's ouster last year

Unidentified assailants shot and killed a policeman and injured another in Egypt's northern city of Sharqiya on Thursday, Al-Ahram's Arabic news website reported.

The attackers, riding on a motorcycle, shot the two on-duty officers and then fled the scene.

Egypt's security forces have been under constant threat of attacks and assassinations since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi last year. Hundreds of police and army members have been killed and injured in various assaults, mainly targeting their posts, in the restive Sinai Peninsula and elsewhere nationwide.
