Egypt’s Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa has called for an urgent meeting of all religious groups in Egypt to erase any misunderstandings between them, following clashes in Imbaba between Christians and Muslims which have so far left 12 dead.

Ali said in a statement released today that the country could slide into a civil war if criminals continue to break the law and cause sectarian tension between Egyptians.
