Egyptian police were called in on Friday to Prime Minister's Ibrahim Mahlab’s residence in Maadi after his security team suspected that explosives had been planted in his car.
One of the premier’s security dogs was sniffing his vehicle for explosives before he left his home, as is customary, when it sat next to the car; a gesture that means explosives have been detected.
However, the bomb squad who were called to the scene found no explosives and gave the all clear.
Cairo's security directorate received two other reports of possible explosive which were both false alarms, Cairo security directorate head, Ali El-Demerdash told Al-Ahram’s Arabic news website.
Bombing attempts have become frequent in the past year and a half, as the ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi has caused spike in a decade-long Islamist insurgency based in North Sinai.
Egypt's interior minister Mohamed Ibrahim escaped an assassination in September 2013 when a bomb was detonated near his convoy.
